Malta Enterprise continues to support Malta’s role in Europe’s digital and industrial transformation through its ongoing engagement with European semiconductor policy developments.
As part of these efforts, Mr Matthew Xuereb, Policy Officer at DG CNECT, European Commission, delivered a presentation on Europe’s semiconductor strategy, with a focus on the EU Chips Act 2.0. The session was attended by representatives from the Ministry for Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects, the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU (PREU), and EUCD.
The presentation provided valuable insights into the European Union’s ambition to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing capacity, enhance supply chain resilience, and address the growing demand for specialised skills required to support the semiconductor ecosystem.
The discussion aligns with Malta Enterprise’s continued work in monitoring and contributing to key European policy developments through its Economic Intelligence & EU Affairs Unit. By engaging with EU initiatives such as the EU Chips Act, Malta Enterprise is supporting efforts to position Malta within Europe’s evolving semiconductor landscape and identifying opportunities for the country to contribute to strategic digital and industrial priorities.
