Opportunities for SMEs in the European Defence Fund

Unpacking the Impacts of the EU’s Packaging and Packaging of Waste Regulation

Malta Enterprise, in collaboration with the Ministry for Environment, Energy and Enterprise, the Environment & Resources Authority (ERA), and the Malta Business Bureau (MBB), held an online session to discuss with industry operators the impact of the proposed EU legislation on Packaging and Packaging of Waste.

Kurt Farrugia, CEO of Malta Enterprise, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of businesses familiarizing themselves with the provisions introduced under the draft regulation. He urged companies to prepare for the changes by understanding the new legislation.

Crane Currency Malta invests in Solar Farm

Crane Currency has invested €1 million for the installation of a solar farm at its Malta security printing plant in Ħal Far. The adoption of solar energy is aimed to reduce the company’s’ carbon footprint. 

Crane Currency is known for being amongst the fastest global players in currency with Malta’s facility being the first of these commercial banknote printing facilities to be built in several decades. Malta’s Crane Currency facility offers the most advanced printing equipment and technology as a means to support the needs of international central banks requirements. 

European Commission’s public consultation on revision of de minimis regulation

The European Commission has launched a consultation on a draft revision of the de minimis regulation.

Under the current rules, Member States can grant support of up to €200,000 per beneficiary over a period of three years (‘de minimis threshold’) without prior notification to the Commission for approval.

Malta-based MGC completes long-COVID clinical trial

MGC Pharmaceuticals Ltd, which has a base in Malta, has seen very positive results from a clinical study for the white-label version of its ArtemiC™ Support to assess its impact on patients suffering from Long-COVID.

During the study 60 COVID-vaccinated patients suffering from Long-COVID were observed in clinics across Spain when administered the study product twice a day for six weeks.

The administered nutraceutical was shown to alleviate symptoms of Long-COVID unrelated to functional limitations, including pain, mental confusion, sleep disorders and inflammation.

In its 2nd edition, the Start Up Festival will live up to its name with experiences for youngsters that aspire to be founders and also will focus on the entrepreneurial mind-set and on linking startups to new local and international investors.
